Buying new seed each season makes you more money. And we would say that even if we didn’t sell seed. Buying new seed is convenient. Peterson Farms Seed meets very strict quality requirements. You can rest assured our seed is of the highest quality and highest yielding product vs. bin run, and you have a reliable supply in many maturities.
Buying new seed is economical. Cleanout loss is about 10-15% for bin run seed, and bin run planting rates are generally 15% higher than new seed. Buying new seed supports new innovations. Heard of drought tolerant corn? Low nitrogen use corn? Dicamba-resistant soybeans? Buying new seed helps pay for the development of these new technologies. Buying new seed just makes cents. (Pardon the pun.)
And remember, saving any patented soybean seed, including all Genuity® Roundup Ready 2 Yield® varieties, is a violation of U.S. patent law and is illegal. Seed piracy hinders the development of future technologies and in turn hurts the entire industry.
Seed containing a patented trait can only be used to plant a single commercial crop from which seed cannot be saved and replanted.
Examples of seed containing a patented trait include but are not limited to Genuity® Roundup Ready 2 Yield® soybeans, Roundup Ready 2 Xtend® soybeans, Genuity® Roundup Ready® spring canola, and Genuity® Roundup Ready® winter canola. Additional information and limitations on the use of these products are provided in the Monsanto Technology Stewardship Agreement and the Monsanto Technology Use Guide. Dicamba will kill crops that are not tolerant to dicamba. Contact your Monsanto dealer or refer to Monsanto’s Technology Use Guide for recommended weed control programs.
