Ag Bites — Corn Stand Evaluation How-To — May 24, 2012
A big part of Peterson Farms Seed’s mission is to provide unparalleled agronomic support to growers, resulting in higher yields. The Ag Bites video series provides in-field reports and practical agronomic tips to inform and educate our customers in that effort.
Peterson Farms Seed’s “Ole and Sven Studies” trial a variety of farming methods over time, to determine “Best Practices” for our regional conditions and soils. These tests can be seen and walked each September at our annual Groundbreaker Field Day. Recurring studies include Population, Planting Date, Planting Depth, Planting Speed, Corn Defoliation at V5, Seed Treatment, and Very Late Soybean Planting.
In our Ag Bites video series this summer, Agronomy Manager Adam Spelhaug will take you into the fields to give insights into these “Best Practices”. This week he discusses the importance of evaluating your corn stand to use as a report card on the effectiveness of this spring’s planting.
