How To Use FieldView Beyond Planting.

By now you probably are familiar with Climate FieldView. You know it automatically records your planting and harvest data but FieldView is capable of so much more. Today I’m sharing a few ideas for how to use FieldView to your advantage this summer.

Tracking Sprayer Application

Did you know FieldView has the ability to map sprayer applications? To add a drive and an iPad to a sprayer is very similar to the installation used for planting operation. That makes it simple to get up and running. The sprayer mapping system records all the products you apply along with their individual rates and amounts. These amounts and tracking can then be put together into a PDF file to print for your record keeping.

Imagery & Scouting

Utilize the imagery feature in FieldView  to determine where to focus your scouting efforts. FieldView’s “Field Health” is an exaggerated NDVI map that really shows the differences in a field, to give you direction for your first scouting efforts.

Here are the key features I recommend to capture, and share, when you scout to see what’s going on in a field:

1. Pins: Drop a pin to call attention to something like a rock, weed patch, stress spots, etc. You can also add notes and pictures to further document the issue.
2. Region tool: This tool allows you to hand draw, draw a polygon, or even select passes and save those areas as “regions”. These are areas to pay attention to and analyze after harvest. This is really valuable when you run tests like population, fertility or fungicide.

Both pins and regions can be seen by anyone you share your account with and are a good way to share problem spots with others in your operation or your crop consultants and seed partners.
