Viptera Trait Officially Approved by China
Official notice that the Viptera corn trait has finally received Chinese import approval is exciting news for corn growers in our region.
Approval removes the marketing restrictions from one of the highest-yielding hybrids in our corn lineup–38L90. It also opens the door for us to add some great new genetics protected by the Viptera trait, to our already stellar lineup.
The Viptera trait improves insect control of corn earworm, black cutworm, western bean cutworm and fall armyworm. While not major pests in the northern plains, we do experience some yield-robbing pressure from these hard-to-manage insects.
We’re hopeful that this approval sets the stage for expediency in the Chinese approval process, including Xtend, Enlist, & Balance Bean. Let’s hope these pending approvals don’t take four years!
